Well friends, we are coming up to a HUGE milestone on a journey that is really just beginning! Wow, what a journey this has been so far. I look at the time that we have been involved in this Go Fund Me Campaign. 10 months. In that time, we've done the following:

<div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1470697520975_14895" style="-webkit-padding-start: 0px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">

<ol id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1470697520975_14897" style="-webkit-padding-start: 0px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin: 2px 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 40px;">

<div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1470697520975_14921" style="-webkit-padding-start: 0px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
One of the things that has impacted me the most is that this whole process has encouraged others to dream again! I can't tell you how many people approached my wife and me and have told us how grateful they are for the encouraging music AND for being able to watch the process unfold. Many people have started businesses, made big career changes, strengthened marriage relationships, and more for the glory of God. It's been incredible. This could be a good place to say, "You know what? We've done good! We're only $872 away from our goal and that's close enough. Let's stay here and be content." But I can't.

<div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1470697520975_14923" style="-webkit-padding-start: 0px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">

<div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1470697520975_14926" style="-webkit-padding-start: 0px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
We learn lessons and even discover purpose on the journey. And on my path between dreams and reality, I've received a better understanding of why God even has me going down this road. I don't know if you've really noticed, but my music is very...hmm...eclectic lol! It's not what you would generally think of when you think "rap music". The crowds that I'm in front of are not your stereotypical rap crowds either. By God's grace, my music is able to reach a broad audience. I didn't plan it that way. But given my background, my musical taste, my story, and of course God's grace...it just sort of happened that way. It's taken me a while, but I'm comfortable in my calling. I'm called to be a bridge. And now I see that God has called me to be a bridge in one of the most divided times in recent history. Ethnicities are divided. The poor and the rich are divided. Churches are divided. Those who stand for righteousness and those who stand for justice are divided. Even in the minds of most people, spirituality and practicality are divided. With all of this division, I truly believe that God is raising forerunners to be bridges in different areas of society. And I believe that I have a major role to play in using music to help bridge some of these spiritual and cultural gaps.

<div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1470697520975_14928" style="-webkit-padding-start: 0px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">

<div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1470697520975_14931" style="-webkit-padding-start: 0px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
Now you see why I can't be OK with average. I can't be fine with almost doing something. That syndrome has plagued me for most of my life. But not this time. The stakes are too high and my faith is too strong. Friends, there are so many great causes to give to today. As the world gets darker, more needs will surface. (And let me be real: Since I launched my Go Fund Me, I feel as though I've unleashed a Go Fund Me spirit because I see them everywhere now lolol!) I believe that how far we've come in our campaign is truly a testimony of God's hand being on this thing. We wrestled with the thought of even doing a Go Fund Me campaign but we felt the prompting of the Lord to do it so we did. And now He is prompting us to fight the good fight of faith, and to trust Him to help me FINISH this leg of the journey.

<div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1470697520975_14933" style="-webkit-padding-start: 0px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">

Friends, will you truly pray and believe with us? Will you give whatever God puts on your heart (large or small)? Will you help spread the word about this campaign? We really believe that God is doing something BIG here. In our times, we don't just need more music. We need people who are submitting every gift to be supernaturally used of God to change the world. Jeneil and I are going to go as far as the Lord will allow us for His glory. It was always in us to inspire the next generation to be passionate pursuers of God's presence. We have already reached thousands around the country and you are helping to extend our reach even further. We love you all and thank you for your continued prayers and generosity!

My spouse isn't saved...and doesn't the bible say something about not being unequally yoked??"

Oh, and here's one of my favorites: "Now that I'm saved, I see that my marriage was never ordained of God in the first place. So I feel at peace to leave."

Not everyone gets the privilege of starting a relationship with Jesus at the center. Sometimes during a relationship, one person surrenders to Jesus while the other wants nothing to do with Jesus. And when the struggle gets real, we Christians tend to get all kinds of spiritual confirmations on why we should leave our spouses. Good news, though! God has given us instruction in His word about what to do when we've given our life to Jesus, but we're convinced that we're married to Satan!

Check these verses out. 1 Corinthians 7:12-16:

12 To the rest I say (I, not the Lord) that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. 13 If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. 14 For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. <span class="crossreference" data-cr="#cen-ESV-28485Q" data-link="(Q)" style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 0.625em; line-height: 22px; position: relative; top: 0px; vertical-align: top;">Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. 15 But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so.

Heavy truth here. Paul is saying that if your spouse is happy to live with you, then you should not divorce that person. This implies that there are times when spouses will see that their husband/wife's life has changed and they won't be able to deal with it. At THAT time, it is ok to divorce because God has called us to peace. But because God has called us to peace, your spouse shouldn't want to leave the house because you're always calling him/her a "good-for-nothing heathen" who is destined for the fires of hell. Your life should scream "JESUS LOVES YOU AND SO DO I". When it does, you have a great chance of being a witness to your spouse. He or she could come to know Jesus based on the way that they see you live.

As believers, we have been given an assignment to bring people back to God. Here are four tips to help you love your spouse into the kingdom. Understand that:

Your spouse is not the devil. He/she is another soul in need of God's grace as you are.

You are not the Holy Spirit. Human tactics isn't going to produce the righteousness you want to see in your spouse.

Greater is He (Jesus) that is in you that he (the devil) that is in the world. God's influence flowing through you to your spouse is greater than the devil's influence on your spouse (or even you for that matter).

God's goodness leads us to repentance. Is your spouse seeing the goodness of God in you? Or are you making Christ unattractive with your attitude?

We love God because He first loved us. Most of the time, love needs to be shown insanely well before it is reciprocated. So make a commitment to grow in God's love and to show God's love. Then just see what happens next!

This is Abbie. After my first stop of the Dreams to Reality Tour, she came up to me all excited and nervous. Then she gave me a quick testimony. She told me that she first heard my music in Oklahoma (which was weird because I never knew that my music traveled that far) lol! She began to tell me that my music really helped her out during a dark time in her life. I was so happy to hear her testimony! It was truly a humbling experience to know that God would use something that I love to do in order to effect a real person! A lot of times, music goes into cyberspace and you never really know who it's impacting. I encouraged Abbie to keep living for God, prayed with her, gave her a big hug, we followed each other on Instagram and that was it. What an experience!

This is Madi. I also met her after one of my tour concerts in December. That particular night was incredible! The concert was awesome. The atmosphere was great. The youth leaders were on point. The ministry time after the concert was definitely on point! The Holy Spirit was truly changing hearts. I specifically remembered Madi because she was just so happy that day. She bought the same beanie that I had on and asked if we could take a picture together. So we did. I encouraged her, gave her a big hug, we followed each other on Instagram and that was it. A few months later, I found out that she took her own life. I was heartbroken. My heart went out to her family...especially her youth pastors and church friends. And you know that the enemy tried to mess with my head too. Thoughts like, "You're trying to reach a generation with hope in Jesus, but it's not good enough to stop someone from killing themselves." I was really discouraged until the Holy Spirit reminded me that Jesus was in the same situation and could have felt the same way. I'm glad that He didn't buy that lie.
Here's the truth:

I was privileged to be a part of God's overall narrative in the life of these two young ladies. God used my life to have a positive impact on their lives. At the end of the day, all that I'm called to do is to love Jesus and to obey. God, in His sovereignty, takes those acts of obedience and does what He wants to do with them. Those acts of obedience could help pull someone out of a dark situation. Those acts of obedience could be one of the last signs of hope to someone who is desperately trying to make sense of life. These two young ladies were positively impacted by my decision to step out and dream, conquer my fears, focus, and obey God. What if I didn't? What if my music never came out because I was too scared to pursue what God told me to pursue? Who ELSE is waiting on the other side of my obedience?

Who's waiting on the other side of YOUR obedience?? #GO!
There's also some incredible stuff in the works that I can't wait to share with you! But the past is in the past and the future hasn't arrived yet.

Today, I am working at my church (Faith Outreach Center Intl.), and I'm trying to figure this whole children's ministry thing out. I've got a few children's ministry positions to fill by next month. I won't be able to fill them because my family and I will be out of town...mainly doing music stuff. I called my new music project "Between Dreams and Reality" because that is exactly how I feel. The cover picture of me wearing headphones while dressed in church leadership clothing (and sweating) is a pretty accurate depiction of my life right now. I love what I do at the church, but I feel like there's more. I love music too! Honestly, ministering to people (young and old) through music is my passion. I feel like I'm almost in the right place, but I haven't quite hit that pinpoint position where passion intersects with work. So I feel like I'm experiencing two different worlds on a regular basis.

When I feel stuck between this dream that God has given me and the reality of my current situation, I experience these incredible mountaintop moments which are generally followed by valley moments. I feel like my mountaintop experiences are when I'm creating and performing music. Building relationships with other people and investing into their lives so that they can be who God has created them to be? Mountaintop experience!! I feel like my valley moments are when I'm doing office work. It's when I'm turning in check requests, returning emails, researching camp, scheduling youth events, managing check-in systems, charting and tracking ministry growth, teleconferences...come to think of it...anything administration? Valley experience lol! It's not that for everyone, but it definitely feels like that for me! So what am I supposed to do? Because I don't get paid enough to work on the mountaintop yet. I get paid to work in the valley! (Can I be real?)

The Holy Spirit has really encouraged me with Ecclesiastes 3:1 lately.
It says, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven."
That verse is followed by examples of what we would consider "high times" and "low times". Here are some points that I got from this text:

We live life in seasons. Life wasn't meant to be lived in one long season of high moments or one long season of low moments. So if I expect not to go through seasons, then I'm setting myself up for disappointment.

There is a time attached to every purpose under heaven. While I'm in the valley, I shouldn't waste my time wishing that I was on the next mountaintop. There is a time sensitive purpose in the valley.

The mountains and the valleys work together in God's grand design for my life. The purpose can be easy to see when I'm on the mountaintop. But I need to remind myself of the purpose while I'm in the valley.

While praying the other day, I found myself getting upset because I wanted to just go and do music! The church missions team is out impacting the world. A few of my friends just launched a tour, another signed a distribution deal, some of them were scheduled to head over to Azusa NOW to pray and worship with some of my favorite ministers and bands. I was like, "Lord, why do you have me in this position?" I was in my feelings lol! Then the Holy Spirit gently spoke to me and said, "I am giving you time to prepare for your upcoming season." Now, my mind wanted to rejoice and be like, "Oh yeah, my time is coming!" But there was a deeper message that the Lord wanted me to get. He wanted me to understand that the time in the valley was just as holy as the time on the mountaintop. The mountains and the valleys work hand in hand in God's landscape for my life. Valleys give me rest. Valleys help me refocus. Valleys forge my character. Valleys keep me humble. What happens in the valley doesn't stay in the valley. It helps to sustain me at the mountaintop.

Luke 4 - Jesus starts His ministry off in Holy Ghost power after a season of temptation. The Spirit comes upon men for a purpose. Jesus always spoke with authority. The crowds knew the difference between speech with authority and speech with no authority.

Luke 5 - A tax collector becomes a follower of Jesus. He later throws a feast and brings a lot of his ungodly friends. The Pharisees expected Jesus and His disciples to distance themselves from the gathering in order to make everything look good. Jesus said that He and His disciples were needed there instead of in a place where everyone thinks that they're ok.. Whew! Do I distance myself from new followers of Jesus because of how it may appear?

Luke 6 - Jesus spent all night in prayer before choosing his apostles. My spiritual house isn't built by hearing sermons. It's built by obedience. This describes so many in church today, especially teens who leave the church to go to college. The streams come and all they have are sermons that they've heard. There's been no obedience so their spiritual house falls.

Luke 7 - When you are forgiven little, you love little. When you are forgiven much, you love much.Jarrellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05688448702331390694noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4799068751107167352.post-90794721220346145562016-02-23T11:34:00.000-06:002016-02-23T11:34:16.825-06:00#BackToBasics Devo - Luke 1-3

Luke 1 - Zechariah's voice was restored after his act of faith and willingness to break from tradition.

Luke 2 - Even though Jesus walked in deep revelation, he submitted to his earthly authority. Reminds me of when Samuel. Although he was God's chosen prophet, he submitted to Eli the priest in humility.

Luke 3 - John's message was a message of repentance. He also explained how repentance works itself out in areas of social justice. That's awesome!Jarrellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05688448702331390694noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4799068751107167352.post-51760472507875122272016-02-21T23:16:00.001-06:002016-02-22T07:05:59.669-06:00#BackToBasics Devo - Mark 13-16

Mark 13 - The first warning that Jesus gives about the end times is a warning against deception.

Mark 3 - A house divided against itself can't stand. The strong man needs to be bound first in order to plunder. Jesus' bond with the family of God was deeper than his bond with earthly family.

Mark 4 - The cares of the world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desire for other things can make the word unfruitful in my life. Also, kingdom economics in verses 26-30. The kingdom works but we need to know how and when to plant and receive.

Mark 5 - In this chapter and in other accounts, unclean spirits seem to be territorial. Jesus has full authority over demonic forces.
Matthew 25 - What I do now counts for eternity.
Matthew 26 - The key to not falling into temptation is to watch (be aware) and pray.
Matthew 27 - Jesus was forsaken by the Father because of me and for me.
Matthew 28 - Because all authority has been given to Jesus, we can go and preach in the same authority!
Mark 1 - Jesus preaches the kingdom and expresses it through miracles.
Mark 2 - When I think that I'm ok, then I lose sight of my need for Jesus.Jarrellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05688448702331390694noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4799068751107167352.post-56713085840020279792016-02-10T09:45:00.001-06:002016-02-10T09:45:38.370-06:00#BackToBasics Devo - Matt 21-24
1. Chapter 21 - Jesus cleanses the temple, establishes that it is to be a house of prayer, and he follows this with miracles.

2. Chapter 22 - Love God and love people

3. Chapter 23 - Legalism majors on the minors and minors on the majors. Legalisms priority is good appearance over a good heart.

4. Chapter 24 - We know the signs of the coming of Jesus, but we don't know the day or hour.
